Bahamian dollar banknotes and coins

One Bahamian dollar ($) can be subdivided into 100 cents (c).

There are eight denominations of Bahamian dollar banknotes in circulation: $1/2, $1, $3, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100; and four coin denominations: 5c, 10c, 15c and 25c.

The Bahamian dollar has been in use since 1966, when it replaced the British pound as the official currency of the Bahamas. Before the Bahamian dollar was introduced, various types of currency were used in the Bahamas, including Spanish dollars, British pounds, and Bahamian pound notes. The Central Bank of The Bahamas is responsible for managing and issuing Bahamian dollars, but the currency is not actually produced in the Bahamas. Coins are struck by the Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa, Canada and banknotes are printed by De La Rue in Basingstoke, England.
