Bought £300 worth of US dollars
Ordered to arrive on the Tuesday before holiday, husband waited in two days and they blamed Royal Mail. No currency for holiday ended up getting my CXD and USD at airport and now waiting on refund that takes up to 18 days

Bought £232 worth of Turkish lira
I wanted low denomination Turkish Lira notes (100tl) which Walthamstow Low Hall did not stock. They advised would order them for collection in 5 days time. Duly went to counter today & they had failed to obtain the 100 TL notes I had ordered. They had my phone number but hadn’t bothered to call to advise me. Plus the exchange rate even when using Nectar card is worse the either Post Office or Marks & Spencer. Too late for me to go elsewhere. Will avoid in future

Ordered a currency card
Terrible website that keeps logging you out. Card wouldn't work on holiday. Tried to contact for support and didn't get any help. Absolutely terrible customer service. My advice is DO NOT USE!

Bought £1,500 worth of Euros
Absolutely terrible experience with Sainsburys. We exchanged our GBP to euros for our holiday, at what admittedly was already a pretty poor rate compared to other companies and exchanges, nevertheless, we had the money out into our sainsburys travel card which meant the convenience of having it cashless when abroad. When we returned from the holiday, we decided to exchange the money back to pounds which was not only a complete faff, but also an absolute rip off. We were told the €116 would work out to be £96. Knowing it wasn't as favourable as others, we still opted for it to avoid the hassle of withdrawing and exchanging elsewhere as we were already there anyways. Low and behold, we only received £84 and was told that this was because it was Mastercard who now set the exchange rate and that was all we would get. To make matters worse, we were told they could also not withdraw the € in cash as they did not offer this. Basically, we were now tied in to their rates without much choice. Wouldn't recommend and would not be using again

Ordered a currency card
Just picked up card (as a spare for any tap in tap out travel when travelling with a teenager). Clunky online registration. App doesn’t work at all (card not supported, it says). Hope the card will! Not impressed so far and will be returning it after our trip, no doubt taking the hit on the exchange rate. Never again.

Ordered a currency card
No star option not available. Terrible waste time and money. Would never use this again! And the buy back rate if you have funds left makes it a very poor choice. Lesson learnt albeit a little late.

Bought £600 worth of Thai baht
Naively exchanged pounds for Thai currency with nectar card in store. Rate turned out to be much poorer than Sainsbury’s own online rate. Called the store who told me that their rate is always better on line - lesson learnt - don’t use the in store facility!!

Bought £51 worth of Euros
Please check the reviews before ordering. If I had done this I would not have touched with a barge pole. You think you are ordering it through Sainsbury's, which you are but if you have a problems Sainsbury's do not want to know.
I had a problem with registering, my info was right but something was wrong the other end. When I tried to cancel they tried to charge.
I have given one star but only because I cannot give a minus star!

Stuck abroad with a card which won't top up. Useless! Social media team won't pass on my number to get some help, they expect me to incur call charges to rectify their problem!

Bought Euros
Although originally told I wouldn't be charged for withdrawing money from the cash point,I found that I was charged, also I have been charged a fee for non-use of the card over a certain period which was also not told ,I would avoid the Sainsbury's passport holiday card altogether

Ordered a currency card
Went to collect notes,Had a travel money card from a previous transaction asked about adding funds to card ( downloaded and tried to use app, can't use to add funds)told bring it in and will receive online rate,called in two days later to add funds only noticed later given a rate of1.10 not 1.14 went back following day told they could do nothing,sent online complaint still not dealt with! Dreadful service!!!

Awful company for travel cards - DO NOT USE EVER. App is trash, website is trash. Can't even withdraw money. They charge an inactive fee after a year or so. I was on hold for ages just to cancel my card and withdraw my remaining funds because there is no option to do this yourself. GO WITH ANYONE ELSE

The app is a total glitchy mess and leaves you stranded unable to carry out simple functions. I’m taking this back to the supermarket and getting cabbages instead - they clearly know nothing about how to operate this kind of service.

Absolutely useless. Always errors topping up the balance using the app. When you phone to make a change you are told it takes 7 days for the change to take affect. -What use is that when you are away and need to use the card!

Bought travel money
Ordered a travel card to use in US. Loaded with USD. Payment took from a credit card by error and so charged huge transfer fees. Removed my CC from site and tried to add another but it is not possible via online. Spoke with CS (difficulty understanding each other) and they informed me that you can not do this action online and need to have the App or go into a Sainsburys store. I did not want the app. Having logged in to my account several times on instructions from CS I was then blocked. CS unable to unblock! Nightmare and wished I had read the reviews before ordering. I will transfer the US balance if I can use my card. Avoid totally unreliable and difficult to use.
